Hello, dear dancer!

This year, the swing dance festival Tartu Summer Swing takes place on 22–24 August 2025 in Tartu, Estonia.

Tartu Summer Swing 2025 brings together swing dancing, live swing music, and kind people. It’s a lovely chance to enjoy Lindy Hop, meet others, and spend time together in the warm late-summer days of Tartu. While Saturday, 23 August is the main festival day, there will also be nice activities on Friday and Sunday — you’re warmly invited to join us for the whole weekend! (P.S. If you’ve never danced before but would still love to join the Saturday party, there’s a special Lindy Hop crash course for complete beginners happening before the festival. You’ll find all the details at the bottom of the page!)

On Saturday, Lindy Hop dance classes will be taught by the wonderful Tanja and Kay from Finland. In the evening, there’s a Boogie Woogie taster class led by Ksenia and Sathish, also from Finland. After that, we’ll dance the night away to live music by Duo Tundmus Meets the Band at the Estonian Students’ Society hall!

If you’d like a little warm-up before the main day, Friday’s program includes a Lindy trip through summery Tartu, ending with a cozy social dance. On Sunday, we’ll have a themed Lindy Hop class with Ksenia and Sathish, followed by a relaxed end-of-summer picnic by the river.

Teachers

Tanja & Kay

…are from Helsinki, Finland, and they love anything Swing. Between the two of them, they have around 15 years of combined experience teaching Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz. They value connecting the dance to the musical context and history. One of their most important focus points is that leaders and followers get equal amounts of challenge in class.

Ksenia & Sathish

…are also from Helsinki. Their story began seven years ago when Sathish, a beginner, first stepped onto the dance floor, while Ksenia, with her experience in various dance styles, guided them along the way. Through dancing, they have learned to be present in the moment and fully express themselves through the music. They can’t wait to celebrate swing dancing and connect with fellow dancers at the festival.

Duo Tundmus meets the Band

…is a new musical endeavour by pianist Lisanne Pappel and singer Gloria Elisabeth Jörberg, which was born in 2022 in Estonia. For our party, the duo is taking a band with them.

The duo composes music inspired by the traditional jazz of the 1930s – 50s, while staying true to their roots and adding an Estonian flare to the music.

“Tundmus” – an Estonian word that roughly translates to “feeling or sensation”, encapsulates the duo`s inspiration – the dimness of a jazz club, the beauty of Estonian nature and the philosophical dilemmas of everyday life.

Schedule

Dance classes take place at the Tartu Swing Dance Club (Kastani 48, Tartu).

P.S. We offer a group discount:
1) Gather a group of 6 or 8+ friends who also want to come dancing.

The Lindy trip and warm-up party on Friday, as well as the picnic by the river on Sunday, are free for everyone.

Lindy Hop Crash Course

If you’ve never danced before but would love to take part in Tartu Summer Swing, this is a great opportunity to learn the basics before the Saturday party!

The course is offered on two dates – the content is the same on both days:

Saturday, August 16 – in Estonian
Friday, August 22 – in English

The course includes four 1-hour dance classes, with breaks and practice time in between.
Price: €35 (includes entry to the main Tartu Summer Swing party on August 23)
