Code of Conduct
Respect, Inclusivity and Personal Boundaries
We are committed to providing a welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, physical appearance, body size, or ability.
We’re all here to enjoy the music, the dancing, and the community. That means treating everyone with respect – no matter their background, identity, or experience level.
- Kindness and respect are non-negotiable.
- Harassment, discrimination, or aggressive behavior are not accepted.
- If someone says “no” to a dance or anything else, that’s totally fine. No explanations needed, no hard feelings. Feel free to say no yourself at any time.
- If you want to try out some cool moves you learned in class, please talk it through with your partner first to see if they are on the same page with you.
- Dance roles are not gender-specific. Don’t assume – just ask.
- If you see or experience anything that makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable: Talk to a staff member or volunteer – we’re here to help. Or email us at swingtartu[at]gmail.com if you’d prefer to reach out privately. We take all concerns seriously and we’ll handle them with care and confidentiality.
Dance Floor Etiquette
Let’s keep the floor safe and fun for everyone.
- Be aware of your space and the dancers around you.Apologize if accidental contact occurs.
- Save aerials and lifts for jam circles, performances, or practice sessions – not the social floor.
- Don’t give unsolicited dance advice. If someone wants feedback, they’ll ask.
Stay fresh
- Please shower, and bring extra shirts if you tend to get sweaty.
- Go easy on strong fragrances – some folks are sensitive.
- Feeling sick? Take care of yourself and others by sitting this one out.
We’ll let you know if we need to follow any specific health guidelines (like masks, testing, or vaccines) closer to the event.
Tickets, Refunds & Transfers
- All ticket sales are final – no refunds unless we cancel the event.
- Can’t make it? Let us know by writing us an e-mail. You can transfer your pass to someone else – just find the person who wants to buy your ticket and email us the name of the new pass owner.
- We may need to make changes to the schedule, lineup, or venues – but we’ll do our best to keep you informed.
Photography and Videography
Photographs and videos will be made at the event. They’ll be used on Tartu Swing’s social media accounts and webpage, and may be used by the teachers or the band if they so wish. By buying the ticket you agree to be on those photos and videos.
Your Stuff & Your Safety
- You’re responsible for your own belongings – we’re not liable for lost or stolen items.
- Dance can be physical, so please take care of yourself and others. You participate at your own risk.

By joining us, you agree to these terms – it’s all about creating an amazing space for everyone to dance, connect, and have fun.
